The interior design of the apartment in the Murawa estate is a continuation of the design philosophy behind the entire urban concept we created—from the urban scale, through the architecture of the buildings, to the layouts and functions of the apartments.

This time, however, we had the opportunity to go even further—into a specific apartment whose size (92 m², arranged over two levels) differs from the small, compact units we usually design. The interior design was based on the principle of using as few non-natural materials as possible, and leaving everything that is aesthetically sufficient—such as the concrete ceilings—unfinished. The central motif became a carmine curtain rail that winds throughout the entire apartment. It allows for flexible division of the space without the need for “hard” partitions. The space can be closed off, opened up, divided, or unified depending on the needs and mood. We used natural materials: wooden floors and paneling, and exposed concrete ceilings.

In the kitchen, a system of sliding panels was introduced to hide appliances not in use at a given moment. The irregular form of the building translated into the interior geometry—especially visible in the staircase, where a curved bookshelf reflects the shape of the external wall. On the upper level, the bedroom and bathing room are separated by a mirrored block containing the toilet and laundry. This freestanding cube allows natural light to penetrate the space, while the carmine curtain rail makes it possible to shape the room as desired. Our aim was to create a simple interior, economical in its use of materials, that would not age stylistically too quickly.
